XLRI was never used to have GD and this time the big boss IIMA did the same. So now we have the best two B Schools of the country with out GD. .

The question is : do you think that the other b schools shd follow the same path. Most of the mba institutes in abroad don’t take GD for admission

I don’t think IIMA

I don’t think IIMA going w/o GD is anything to do with the b schools in abroad. The selection process in India and US got to be different because of many reasons and the most important one “students educational back ground joining the mba program”

In USA students never face any problem in expressing themselves in English and that’s because the only language they use every where is english. . In India those who are from state borads learns it only after a certain class and therefore, few are never so comfortable with it.

But that does not mean students from state board don’t make it into IIMA.. .I know a general category guy who is from a remote village in orissa ( 2 teachers for 300 students for class 1-7 and there are only 4 class rooms)

So there is a purpose of GD in selection process. . .and if you believe the B schools then GD is just not about communication skill but it goes beyond(leadership skill, listening qualities and so on. . .though I really doubt if you can judge so many qualities of 10-12 persons in 15-20 mins )
