The department of Management Studies imbibes the overall openness of the culture in IIT Delhi valuing all its stakeholders. In response to the feed back from the students, alumni, and industry, the Department of Management studies launched two MBA programmes in July 1997. The objective of the programmes is to impart management education in an engineering environment so as to enable the student to be optimally equipped to respond to the changing requirements of the industry in the Indian ethos. The wide international exposure, linkages with the industry, experience and diversity of their background create a rich faculty resource. The Department offers two MBA programmes. The full-time MBA Programme is focused on "Management Systems" and is designed to be completed in two years. The part-time MBA Programme is focused on "Technology Management" and is designed to be completed in three years. The programme provides a wide range of choices to the student resulting in attractive employment opportunities at the completion of the programme by incorporating a combination of various technical skills and value focused decision making along with the regular teaching. All this is imparted in a course work offered in a flexible mode.Mission of IITD:To be a world-class programme bridging the gaps in management education an developing competencies in the frontier areas of management, such as "Management Systems" and "Technology Management". It is aimed at creating holistic managers, synthesizing conventional and modern management thinking with global outlook and having capability of adapting to the changing requirements of business. Courses Offered MBA (Full Time) Management Systems The full-time MBA programme focuses on “Management Systemsâ€, designed to be completed in two years. The programme provides a wide range of electives to the students. It equips the future managers with a combination of various technical skills and values focused decision making ability. All this is imparted in a course curriculum offered in a flexible mode. It provides the student various routes to the industry, matching their requirements with his/her skills and predispositions. Along with specialization in core "Management Systems", a student can also specialise in major streams, like Information Technology Management, Finance, Marketing, Strategic Management, Organisation Management, Manufacturing Management and Public Sector Management. The programme offers a blend of analytical and creative problem solving skills. The programme places heavy emphasis on practical experience for which extensive interaction with the industry is built into the curriculum. No of seats : 60 MBA (full-time) Telecommunication Systems Management A Telecommunication Emphasis in the program of DMS under the aegis of Bharti School of Telecom Technology & Management (BSTTM) is designed to give persons of many relevant educational backgrounds the skills needed to become effective managers in a wide variety of organization especially in the Telecom sector. The programme is comprehensive in nature, involving all the business functions- accounting, finance, operations, HRM management, marketing, and business computing science. The emphasis of Telecommunications Systems Management prepares students for technical management positions in the telecommunications field. This emphasis provides a strong foundation in Telecom Systems Management that would take some Telecom technology inputs from the BSTTM’s M.Tech. programme in Telecom Technology & Management. Typical employers would be corporations, which provide telecom networks, telecom service providers, and telecom equipment vendors. No of seats : 10 Eligibility Those appearing in the final year examination may also apply. However, the candidates must finish their final qualifying examination before the last date of registration, i.e. 31st July 2006 (exact date to be notified in admission letter). Minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the above mentioned degree programmes are essential for admission. There is a relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPA for SC/ST candidates and as per Institute norms for PH category. Those having applied to IIT Delhi MBA programmes on qualifying the JMET 2005 will be short listed and then invited for a group discussion and interview, which will be held at IIT Delhi. Admission Process The IISc and participating IITs will use the results of JMET 2006 to short list candidates for the subsequent part of the selection process(es). Applicants should note that they have to apply for and send separate application forms to different IITs and IISc as per their choices. Candidates are advised to refer to the details provided by each of the Institutes in this website. An applicant can apply to as many programmes as desired by him / her subject to fulfillment of eligibility requirements. JMET 2006 is only a qualifying examination. It is not mandatory that all candidates who are declared as qualified will be called for Group Discussion / Interview etc. Calling the candidates for such later process(es) of selection is the prerogative of the admitting Institute. It may be noted that the GATE/JMET offices will not respond to queries on the admission procedure. Fees and ExpensesFull-time : Tuition fee of Rs.25,000 per candidate per semester for first four semesters.For international students the fee is US $6,000 per semester for four semesters.Hostel and mess fee will be separate.Part-time: The Break-up of MBA Fee: Library The Central Library with books and journals on all disciplines, is one of the largest of its kind.The Departmental Library has an extensive collection of books and literature related to the management sciences and subscribes to various management periodicals and journals Campus The main academic building accommodates various teaching and research activities. Though each department is a separate entity with a courtyard around, all the departments constitute an integrated complex. Heavy engineering laboratories are placed on the ground floor, light laboratories on the first floor while the tutorial rooms, classrooms and project rooms are located on the second floor. Separate offices have been provided to every member of the teaching staff next to his laboratory. Large lecture theatres with modern amenities and equipment for sound and projection are located in the courtyards between departments for common use. The campus also offers amenities like staff club, hospital, shopping centre, bank, post office, telecom centre, community centre, stadium, playing fields, etc. |
