Challenging qs
A band of 13 pirates obtained a certain number of gold coins. They tried to distribute them equitably but found that they had 8 coins left over. Two pirates drowned. The remaining 11 tried to distribute the coins equitably among themselves, but found that they had 3 left over. Then three more pirates fell overboard and were eaten by sharks; but there were 5 coins left over when the surviving 8 attempted yet another equitable distribution. Given that there were between 1000 and 2000 coins, how many coins were there?

The answer is
88 x 6 + 104 x 5 + 143 x 3
= 528 + 520 + 429
= 1477
1477 divided by13 gives reminder 8
1477 divided by11 gives reminder 3
1477 divided by 8 gives reminder 5

can anyone its solution in detail as it is not clear to me......................
even i don't get it wat nishit has done..lol.but these questions can b done more easily by just looking at the options and then dividing it by 13,11 and 8 to see if we get the remainders as 8,3 and 5 respectively.as we can see 1477 will satisfy it.
