Getting worse

40 days to go for the D-day. What u guys are doing now.. with each day I am losing my confidence ..in the first few mocks I was scoring quite well but my last score was horrible.. don’t know what ll happen but somehow I m losing my focus … :-( :-(

IMS Open SIMCAT – A good beginning

The paper was different as was highly advertised by IMS but was it up to the CAT standard?. The pattern was a surprise but the questions were not that tough. The cutoff should go beyond 50 and that’s quite high compare to last couple of CAT exams. The paper was not similar to XAT as few were complaining. In XAT all the questions in a single block are related to each other i.e it is impossible to solve bit iii without solving bit i & ii but it was not the case with this paper. All the mathematic questions appeared in block but most of the questions are unrelated to each other. The design of the paper is good in the sense that the pattern was new, it required a bit of reading, fewer questions in accordance with current CAT trend but the AIW team missed two things – the standard of the questions was not up to the mark and the questions did not cover all the areas of CAT. Of late CAT has been more reasoning than anything else but open simcat was far from that. Nevertheless it is a good beginning and the best thing about the test is that it gives a good picture of all CAT aspirants. Whatever the flaws with the test the percentile one get will be very similar to be in real CAT except few exceptions. It will not be possible for any other coaching center to conduct a mock with so many exam takers. Congrats IMS for that and I hope IMS continue this trend in all coming years – open simCAT 2 week before real CAT.

I will be graduating in year 2007 and have just started my cat2007 preparation. I want to be in a good b school and ready to do any thing for that. I need proper guidance. BCom final year

I am a bcom final year student and preparing for CAT07. I am yet to join any coaching center. As I just about to start my preparation I need proper guidance. I have seen last years paper and felt with a good preparation I can easily make the quant and data interpretation section but English section was horrible. I have to give a lots of importance to the English section but I am not sure about where to start. How to go about. Though I have not joined any coaching center I have collected the basic reading material of IMS, Just started looking into the English materials. Things are not looking but that tough. Can I think if I go though the brms thoroughly it will prepare me enough to tackle the CAT questions. Which other coaching center materials should I collect , esp. for the English section, is there any book … yes lots of questions…but being a neophyte I need help

Badly need good suggestion

Hi ALL I am in BBA final year and appeared CAT this year with out any sort of preparation. I am expecting my final year results to be declared by june and currently I am working in a call center. I am bit a confused now, rgt now I have three options and really don’t know which one will be the best i)Continue my current – its really great working in a call center but don’t think so is my future in terms of career. ii)Join the company, which I got through campus with a less salary. it s not a call center and seems to have a good career growth iii)Stop working and start seriously preparing for CAT. PPL who have overcame this situation , please guide me.

IMS material is sufficient or not

hi all I am about to start my cat preparation. Being a working person its not possible for me to attend any class room course so I am thinking about going for IMS correspondence course. My question - IMS correspondence material is sufficient for CAT or do I need to buy some other books or coaching center materials. Again IMS has only 8 simcats which is a small number compared to TIMS/CL So what you guys suggest ?

I have got more than 50 percentage in my BE final exam (74% overall) but due to some unavoidable circumstances I had taken one year gap between my second year and 3 rd year? Is it the right time for CAT07?

I am in my BE final year and an IIM aspirant. My college life is going to over on 31st of this month and I am going to join an IT company in august. In between I have around 50 days. I am not sure how much time I will get after that but in the mean time I am sure to cover all the reading materials of IMS which I have collected from seniors? Am I late for CAT07 or still I have chance if I give a good try this year.

Target Common Admission Test (CAT 2007)

I am just staring my CAT preparation and have joined IMS Durgapur center. I know no one can predict the pattern of CAT 2007 and how many questions will be asked from which math chapter but is there any logical reason that CAT 2007 will be of 2 hour 30 minutes. What I have heard that IMS will make the all India simCAT strategy only after the announcement of CAT notification Is the same thing other coaching centers are planning or they are going ahead with 2hr 30 minutes test. I feel it should be reduced to a 2 hr test.

Career Launcher is the biggest coaching center??

Career Launcher has launched an advertising campaign for the 2007 mock CAT and it shows 40,000+ ‘ll be appearing the exam. How credible is the information. If it’s true, then one out of every 5 CAT takers is appearing CL mocks and that’s huge number. I had always thought that IMS is the biggest MBA coaching center in India and the number of students appearing simCAT (IMS all India mock name) in any year is more than the rest.

English was too tough in CAT 2006??

The most shocking aspect of this years result is that students with ZERO score in English section have got percentiles up to 35. This clearly indicates how tough was the English section with more than one-third of the students scoring zero or less than that. Many students who scored 99 percentile in quantitative analysis and data interpretation secured zero in English.

Attempts or Accuracy

Hi, Like you all I m too preparing for cat 07.... i started my prep in march and have a phobia against maths.....u can’t imagine how horrible my situation in quant.. after few months of preparation now I have started taking sample mock papers and realizing why this BILLI is so feared ..... I think every rule doesn’t apply to every1 in CAT.... some say 35% attempts per section cm say 50% .... bt at the end of the day its score that counts ....dsnt it After attempting few old mocks and CAT papers I came to the conclusion that balancing the number of attempt with accuracy is of great of challenge… Till now I have attempted only 50questions /section type mocks and when ever I try to attempt more than 20 in math sections my accuracy level goes below 60% but the most enigma part is the score – which is always fluctuating around 10. What you all guys give priority to – attempting as many as questions possible or few but correct answers.
