Q6. The speeds of three cars in the ratio 3 : 4 : 5. The ratio between times taken by them to travel the same distance is:
Ans:
Distance(D) = Speed(V) x Time(T)
when D is fixed V varies inversly with T
So the ratio of time taken 1/3 : 1/4 : 1/5
HEY i did not get
HEY i did not get 9th and 10th questions can any one help me solve that......
Solution to Q9:
Q9. A bag contains rupees , half ruppe and ten paise coins. The rupee and half rupee coins are in the ratio 2 : 5 and half rupee and ten paisa coins are in the ratio 4 :9. If the total amount is Rs. 1125 find number of ten paise coins.
Sol: Ratio of :
1 rupee coins:1/2 paise coin: 10 paise coin=8:20:45.
No. of 1 rupee coin=8a
No. of 0.5 rupee coin=20a
No. of 0.1 rupee coin=45a
The total amount is Rs. 1125
So, 1x8a+0.5x20a+0.1x45a=1125
Solving will give the value of a=50.
So, the number of 10 paise coin =45x50=2250
Ans:1150.
Solution to q10:
Q10. The sum of two numbers is 11. Their difference is 12. What is their product?
Dis z extrmely easy ques or u cn jst say d basic of mathematics , i don understand hw , a person who z able to solve other problems of this set can't solve this.If the sum of two numbers is less than their difference it means that both of the numbers have opposite sign,i.e,one is positive while the another is negative.
Anywayz i m giving d soln.
Let the two numbers be a & b.
According to question;
a+b=11 ...(i)
a-b=12 ....(ii)
Adding equation (i) & (ii);
2a=23
a=23/2,b=11-a=11-23/2=-1/2.
Product of the two numbers=(23/2)x(-1/2)
=-23/4.
Answer:-23/4
@shivanibusiness
is n't simply (11^2-12^2)/4 = (121-144)/4 = -23/4
Solution to Q2:
Q2. A sum of money is divided among A, B, C so that to each rupee A gets, B gets 65 paise and C gets 35 paise. If C's share is Rs 28, the sum is:
Sol: Let the amount with A be a.
B' share=0.65a,C'share=0.35a.
As per question,0.35a=28
Solving,a=80.
B share=0.65x80=52
So,sum of the three=80+52+28= Rs.160
Answer:160
hey thanks a lot
hey thanks a lot er......................... . i have posted a few doubt also please see wheather you get it
Solution to Q4:
Q4. Rs.432 is divided amongst three workers A, B and C such that 8 times A's share is equal to 12 times B's share which is equal to 6 times C's share. How much did A get?
Ans: A' share=3a,B'share=2a,C'share=4a.
3a+2a+4a=432
Solving, a=48
A'share is 3x48= Rs.144
Answer:144
hey can you explain
hey can you explain 11th q by mistake i typed 10th q er...... actually i got 10 th q
ya u can do it that way ...
ya u can do that way in one step...
by using the formula:
(a+b)^2-4ab=(a-b)^2
[(a+b)^2-(a+b)^2]/4=ab
But still the solution will be simple only.
Solution to Q5:
Q5. The expenses of an all boys' institute are partly constant and partly vary as the number of boys. The expense were Rs. 10,000 for 150 boys and Rs. 8400 for 120 boys. What will be the expenses be when there are 330 boys?
Soln:
Let the fixed cost be Rs. a and the variable be Rs. b.
Then, a+150b=10000 &
a+120b=8400
Solving will give the value of b=160/3,a=2000.
So for 330 boys, 2000+330x160/3
=Rs. 19600
Ans:Rs. 19600
Solution to Q12:
Q12. The monthly incomes of A and B are in the ratio 4 : 5, their expenses are in the ratio 5 : 6. If 'A' saves Rs.25 per month and 'B' saves Rs.50 per month, what are their respective incomes?
Sol: Let A's income=4a and B's income=5a.
A's expense=5b and B's expense=6b.
A's saving=4a-5b=25....(i)
B's saving=5a-6b=50....(ii)
Solving ,
a=100,b=75.
So,A's income=Rs.400 and B's income=Rs.500.
