answer 1

The monthly incomes of A and B are in the ratio 4: 5; their expenses are in the ratio 5: 6. If 'A' saves Rs.25 per month and 'B' saves Rs.50 per month, what are their respective incomes?

Income of A and B = 4x and 5x and expense 5y and 6y

A saves Rs. 25 => 4x - 5y = 25 ---------(i)

B saves Rs. 50 => 5x - 6y = 50 ---------(ii)

Dividing Both equations we get     (4x - 5y)/(5x-6y) = 1/2

                                                               =>8x  -  10y  = 5x  -  6y

                                                               => 3x = 4y       => x = 4y/3

Putting in Eq(i) we get 16y/3 - 5y = 25  => y  = 75 and x = 100
