Help – I am new to this forum
Hello I’m currently doing my graduation in English Honors and am in my 2nd yr. I am really interested in pursuing management as a career and will be appearing CAT08 (next year). Though I had mathematics as a subject till class 12th , I am not that good in it. How can I go about making a strong fundamental base in mathematics to succeed in an exam like CAT I am curious to know whether the admission into the IIMs requires a prior work experience or not ? And my last question is how good is XLRI and how tough is its admission test.
The best thing in your favor
The best thing in your favor is that you have a lot of time for preparation. As you have mentioned you are doing BA in English and not that good in mathematics, I will suggest concentrating only on mathematics and DI for next one year. Buy one/two math book or the old study material of any coaching center, but don’t join any coaching center. Visit MBA related sites regularly and go through all the questions published. Try to get involved in solving puzzles – there are many things you can do except seriously preparing for CAT. Preparing for an exam like CAT so early might take its toll. At the final stage you might feel exhausted. So don’t waste your energy by joining any coaching or doing any serious CAT preparation. Just do enough to increase the appetite for CAT but never go beyond that.
